LEADBELLY UPDATE:
The UPA has announced that Ohio State will be hosting the 2009 College Championships!
Why should you play?
• To join a highly competitive team that travels the country and learn to play a sport that is loads of fun. If you’re interested in staying active in an environment where you will meet plenty of people just like yourself then this is the place for you. It’s a great way to stay in shape (or get in shape) and it beats the hell out of running several miles with your ipod. You’ll meet older players/students that will help you with learning the game, questions about classes, and where to hang out on the weekends. Ask current players on any of our teams and they will tell what a great decision they made in playing ultimate at Ohio State.
Time Commitment
• Being a part of Leadbelly involves attending practice 3 times a week. In addition to practice, we have conditioning or weight lifting at least once a week, and we usually travel to 2-3 tournaments a quarter. We realize that you are in school to get an education first and anything academic comes before ultimate. Balancing course work and the team is not a problem for our players and most find playing ultimate a nice break from school work.
Experience
• Don’t be intimidated if you’ve never played ultimate at a highly competitive level. Only a few of our players played competitive ultimate in high school. We’re looking for highly athletic people that are willing to put the time in to learn the game of ultimate. Before you know it, you will have learned the basic skills of the game and will be able to compete with the best college ultimate teams in the nation.
